There's been a lot of campaigns encouraging the youth to vote for this upcoming elections but I haven't been really jumping in the bandwagon and registered myself at Comelec. I know, some of you (the patriots or just people who have already registered) are gonna tell me "Why haven't you registered yet? Now is the time!" Yes! Now is the time to choose a leader, to be responsible of who will be put in that high pedestal they call presidency, yet when is the right time to go to Comelec? Do I have to line up? Is it hot? Is the registration easy? Those are few of my concerns. Call me a lazy ass because I am but I really don't want to fuss on a long queue.
My friend and I were talking this afternoon about who were our choices for President when she asked me if I have registered yet then I said "Not yet." Then she told me that I was one of the 4 million people who haven't registered yet. I was completely shocked that there were "millions" of people who are probably not interested in voting or just plain lazy! That made me think about my responsibility for my country and my fellow countrymen. My responsibility for myself. I quickly asked if I could still register and thank heavens for the January 9, 2010 deadline! Take note! January 10, 2009!
Let me tell you why WE, the young people, should vote. First of all, have you seen and heard the campaigns, noise barrages, the blogs, etc. about voting? Probably you had but ignored them but shouldn't we be at least sensitive to the effort and money spent for those campaigns? For convincing the people who are able to vote to vote? I think that YES, we should be.
Secondly, have you asked yourself about what your responsibility is for your country? Your home? Not yet? Then go ahead and ask and then think about it. Actually, don't think about it and just go ahead and register to vote!
And finally, do you want Erap to win again? Hell no! If that's not gonna want you to get up and register then I don't what is! I'm sorry but I'm gonna slam Erap in my blog (freedom of speech and opinion! God I love this country!)! I mean, aren't you just ashamed of what he made our country look like? We looked like fools voting for a second rate celebrity in a position where only the right people deserve to be. By right people I mean the educated smart people! I know that being a good leader has nothing to do with education but it still gives the leader a one up.
Our country has been in the dumps for many years and we need a hero. We need an Obama for our homeland. And who might those heroes be? WE ARE THE HEROES. Sometimes, just sometimes, heroes are forged by the votes of the people.

If I do have the chance to vote this election, I surely have grabbed it. But I still have to wait one more year to turn 18 and I could finally vote. I'm convinced of what your friend said about the big number of unregistered voters, oooh. I shouldn't be one of them when my time comes for me to vote; you too Joule, so go, go, go. ♥
